Stand over there for 25 minutes with a cardboard box over your head”

1 hour documentary on the wonderful animated work by Postgate for the BBC.  Watch to the end then wish it lasted for an hour and a half.  I did.

“Yes it’s nice to have visitors – sometimes it’s even nicer when they leave”

Animation

My mate Dave sent me a link for a lovely animation – it’s worth exploring the whole site.

Dave the poet points me to We Come In Peace – yet another excellent animation site from France. This is good old fashioned slapstick – check out Frederic’s “secret laboratory”.

ANIMATION

Checking out the thoroughly laudable and entertaining anti-ipod.co.uk the other day, I found a link to David Firth’s website showcasing his animation and other video work.

I was particularly taken by his claymation work – “Hollowhead” and “Hell” are stunning – and anyone with the patience for claymation has to be admired.

The real gem of the site isn’t animation at all – it’s the short pieces to camera by Dave’s mate Devvo, musing on various aspects of his drug and lager fuelled, leisure wear clad life somewhere between Doncaster and Hull. Totally authentic and either side splittingly funny or repellent. You decide.

FUNNY– “Roofsex”

SPOOKY– “Sondheim’s Cat/Laminanimal”

LOVELY– “Le Papillon”

FINALLY– “Super Monks/Supermoines”. Supermoines is hi-res Quicktime and well worth the long download. While you’re wating there’s time to get a snack. Or go to the shops, come back and prepare, cook and eat a nice meal, depending on your connection. The studio’s homepage recently moved from whiterabbit.com to blackbunnystudio and is worth a visit.

The flipbook pic is taken from flipbook.info , a French site with several examples of flipbooks and a page of links to other sites.
